The Freestylextreme team started in 2003 in western Ireland, when a small group of riders and extreme sports enthusiasts saw a gap in the market, decided to take a chance and tried to exploit it. In the early days it all centred around the growing interest in the Southern Californian lifestyle and in particular- Freestyle Motocross, which was becoming increasingly popular in the states and beginning to break through in Europe. Back then we had absolutely no idea what the hell we were doing, none of us had any experience and we were literally taking it each day at a time. We didn’t care what happened, as long as we didn’t have to go back to our old jobs!
We began by attending live events; freestyle shows, extreme sports events, race meets, etc and designing a small mail order catalogue. The focus and aim was to provide people with extreme sports brands and products that could not be found anywhere else. Pretty soon we realised that the market demand was much, much bigger than anyone could have imagined. A website was the next obvious move and it revolutionised everything, taking us to the next level. It was obvious from the start that even though our website was only in English; most of our customers were from all over Europe, and so we decided to redesign the site in multiple languages. This was pretty ground breaking stuff back then, especially for a company of our size, and something we remain very proud of achieving.
Thanks to the success of the website; the whole thing snow balled into something we never would have imagined at the start. A market leading multilingual website, mail order, live events and even manufacture are some of the areas the company has expanded into. Four of the five founding members are still here today and make sure the spirit of the company does not get corrupted. Since the start we’ve believed strongly in sponsorship and giving back to the industry we love. Freestylextreme never sponsors people because they win, although many of the Freestylextreme Team are at the very top of their game. We sponsor people we like and people that we believe deserve help.
The company has now crossed over to almost all forms of extreme
sports, from Motocross to Skateboarding, Mountain Biking to Snowboarding. We continue to focus our efforts on contributing something
different, whilst providing the niche brands and products that you just can’t
find anywhere else.
